Among Leading 2018 Housing Industry Innovations to be featured at HIVE Conference November 28, in Austin, TX

Troy, NY – November 25, 2018 – Healthcare solutions company Vital Vio’s germ-killing LED technology has been selected as one of the top 50 people, products, and processes disrupting the housing industry, and will be featured among the prestigious HIVE 50 innovations and innovators being honored at the 2018 HIVE annual conference hosted by Hanley Wood, November 28 and 29, 2018 in Austin, Texas.

Vital Vio Co-Founder and CEO Colleen Costello will participate in the conference and be among the honorees at the HIVE 50 Awards Dinner on Wednesday, November 28.  The honorees also will be featured in the November issue of BUILDER Magazine.

“HIVE continues to stimulate new ideas and shape the future of housing,” said Peter Goldstone, CEO of Hanley Wood, the premier information, media, event and strategic marketing services company serving the residential, commercial design and construction industries. “This year’s HIVE 50 Honorees feature an amazing group of people, products, and processes that are transforming the conversation with forward-thinking ideas and innovative approaches.”

Vital Vio, the pioneer in continuous disinfection technology, was recognized in the Building Technology category.  The healthcare solutions company has reinvented disinfection with its patented VioSafe® White Light Disinfection® technology powering a range of germ-killing LEDs now on the market for commercial and residential use.

Used in combination with traditional intermittent cleaning, VioSafe® LED technology is proven to safely, effectively and continuously kill bacteria and other harmful organisms including: MRSA, Salmonella, E. coli, C. diff., mold and mildew growing on interior surfaces.  Unlike UV lighting, it is safe for continuous human (and pet) exposure.

Vital Vio has successfully partnered with several leading U.S. based lighting companies – including Visa Lighting, PMC Lighting, Evolution, and Code3 —  to develop a range of bacteria and mold-killing lighting solutions primarily for retail and commercial (medical, athletics, food service, hospitality, education) markets.

Costello, who co-founded Vital Vio in 2013, while still in college, after her grandmother contracted MRSA during a hospital stay, said: “Infection prevention is one of the most vexing and costly global health challenges, which is why we are so laser-focused on expanding adoption of our germ-killing technology. Recognition as one of the HIVE 50 innovations in housing will broaden awareness of the capacity of continuous disinfection LED technology to keep people safer.”

“Innovation is not just about big ideas – it’s about commitment, investment and action that can and will transform housing in the United States,” said John McManus, Vice President, Editorial Director for the Residential Group at Hanley Wood. “The HIVE 50 Honorees represent the absolute pinnacle of creativity and technology applied brilliantly to the challenges facing the housing community. These innovators are solving problems we never before imagined we could address, pointing the way for growth and transformation for the future.”

In addition to honoring the HIVE 50, the conference includes a range of talks, presentations, and showcases of innovations in housing.
