Newly Released Third-Party Testing Data Confirms Vyv Antimicrobial Light Technology Inactivates and Kills* the Virus that Causes COVID-19

LATHAM, NY — September 27, 2021 — Vyv, pioneer and leader in UV-free antimicrobial visible light technology, announced today recent independent test results validating the efficacy of its light technology (405nm) for inactivating and killing* enveloped viruses, the class of viruses that can cause COVID-19 and other illnesses. This rounds out third-party lab studies, first announced in May 2021, confirming Vyv’s effectiveness against both non-enveloped and enveloped viruses.

In addition to the extensive efficacy testing Vyv and other independent organizations have performed to date on visible light’s impact on microbes like bacteria, mold, yeast, and fungi, Vyv has now received validation of its technology’s efficacy against both classes of viruses.  This third-party testing has now been performed on both non-enveloped and enveloped viruses, including specific testing on SARS-CoV-2.  The results demonstrated the ability to inactivate these viruses within 8 hours and as early as 4 hours on surfaces.  In addition to Vyv’s controlled laboratory results, completed by an independent lab, there have been other academic studies confirming efficacy of 405nm light (the wavelengths Vyv uses within its products) on enveloped viruses in realistic conditions including varying light intensities.

*Testing on a non-enveloped virus (MS2 bacteriophage) showed a 97.12% reduction in controlled laboratory testing in 8 hours on hard surfaces. Testing on SARS-CoV-2 (enveloped virus) showed a 96.76% reduction in controlled laboratory testing in 8 hours on hard surfaces. Testing on MRSA and E. coli showed 90%+ reduction in controlled laboratory testing in 24 hours on hard surfaces. Results may vary depending on the amount of light that is reaching the surfaces in the space where the product is installed and the length of time of exposure.
