Newly Protected School Buses Roll Out for the Return to In-person School August 9
SANTA ANA, Calif. (August 3, 2021) — With an eye toward student safety and the return to in-person learning, Vista Heritage Global Academy Principal, Dr. Collin Felch, announced the installation of Vyv antimicrobial LED technology that continuously cleans the surfaces in its school’s buses by killing* viruses, bacteria, and other microbes.

Vista Heritage Global Academy, a charter school located in Santa Ana, is the first school in the state to embed Vyv’s groundbreaking antimicrobial technology inside its school buses.

The lights were installed on the buses by Aktonit, a California-based sustainability company, in time for the first day of the 2021-22 academic year August 9. Aktonit introduced Code 3’s interior compartment light with Vyv antimicrobial LEDs to the Orange County School Board. Code 3’s antimicrobial lighting is also used in emergency vehicles and is currently installed in Denver Public School’s fleet of school buses. *Testing on a non-enveloped virus (MS2 bacteriophage) showed a 99.985% reduction in controlled laboratory testing in 6 hours on hard surfaces. MRSA and E. coli showed 90%+ reduction in controlled laboratory testing in 24 hours on hard surfaces.
